At EnoughLies.com, 2013 is looking to be a HUGE year. It’s just been a few months that we’ve started bringing you commentary on the stories of the day, plans you can use to help dial back the ever growing monsters that are the city, county. State, and Federal governments here in the, once freedom loving, united States of America.

As we sit here, today, a few hours before the beginning of a new year, having survived the Mayan Apocalypse and 12-12-12, we must reflect on both the good and bad of our lives up to this point.

Good: Technology allows for greater and greater leisure time and more time to educate ourselves and pursue higher ideals.

Bad: Too often that extra time is spent in idle, meaningless momentary pleasures, like consumerism (not that I have a problem with wealth or spending your money how you want to, just that it would be nice if it consumed less of our day), sloth, overeating, lack of meaningful mental stimulation, and laziness.

Good: More people are becoming politically aware, even if they are just starting to wake up, and that means those who have relied on the uneducated and unaware masses are in for a rude awakening. (Maybe that Mayan thing had some significance)

Bad: to get to the point where people pay attention we have had to wait until the people in power pushed us to a legitimate emergency, so we are on the edge of an economic collapse, a social collapse, and an emerging police state.

Good: Because of all the recent mass shootings, there are more people talking about things like mental illness and evil people than ever before.

Bad: There are also a lot of people who would exploit these tragedies to make political gains…and take away our right to defend ourselves and those we love. Yes I’m talking about Gun Control. The stats are clear, More Guns = Less Crime…period. The most gun violence in the country takes place in the places with the strictest gun laws. It’s simple, criminals DO NOT care if owning a gun is illegal…that’s why they’re criminals, they have no respect for the law. So gun control only removes guns from folks who are willing to give them up, in other words, the law-biding Citizens.

And to end on a good note….

Good: Today there is more wealth available with less work than at anytime in history. Thanks to the emergence of the free market over the last several hundred years, our lives have become demonstrably better. Louis the XIV had almost 500 people to cook his dinner every night, or so the story goes, and yet Ol’ Louis lived like a pauper compared to the poorest here in the US. Indoor plumbing, cell phones, air conditioning…life today for the those with the least among us is far better than the life of a king 350 years ago, literally.

Yes we have some work to do, but it’s not all doom and gloom. We must spread the message of liberty, but we must not forget the wonderful blessings we have today.
